Nintendo vs Sega movie coming soon

Nintendo, Sega and Sony joining forces? Not quite. Sony Pictures have apparently secured the film rights to a forthcoming book entitled “Console Wars” by Blake J. Harris which chronicles the David and Goliath battle between the then market-dominating Nintendo and young upstart Sega way back in the 1990s.

The film is said to be developed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (writer-director duo of Superbad, Pineapple Express and This Is The End) so at least at this early stage it’s attracting some decent talent.

There’s little doubt that this film will pitch Nintendo as the big bad (Nintendo was known for its shrewd business practices in those days) whilst Sega will be the plucky underdog punching above its weight. This kind of business thriller has been pretty popular in Hollywood since David Fincher directed The Social Network so hopefully this film enjoys the same kind of success.
