3DS sells 10 Million in Japan

According to magazine publisher Enterbrain, Nintendo has now sold over 10 million 3DS units in Japan, including the 3DS LL variant (that’s the XL to us).  These Japanese figures now put 3DS well ahead of the cumulative lifetime sales of Playstation 3 (which has sold a little under 9m units) in the country – not bad considering the uneasy start Nintendo’s handheld had back in 2011.

Previous figures at the beginning of December 2012 showed Nintendo had sold 8.7m unites – the jump in sales is likely attributed to some recent high profile releases, including Paper Mario: Sticker Star and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
